Hands-on experience

A documented visual overview of my practical veterinary training, livestock management, and animal care experiences in Pueblo, Colorado, and beyond.

Feline surgical care and calming techniques

Assisting with feline castrations on the family farm gave me direct insight into surgical precision, sterile techniques, and hemorrhage control. Beyond the procedure itself, a defining moment was providing post-operative recovery care—holding and soothing a distressed, panting cat until he felt completely safe and steady.

Livestock procedures and large animal handling

Working at my uncle's farm provided essential exposure to large animal veterinary practices, including performing bull castrations safely and efficiently. Through this work, I developed strong livestock handling instincts, learned how to calm spooked animals, and practiced critical surgical restraint protocols.

Clinical volunteering and equine rescue care

At Mesa Vet and local horse rescues, I gained invaluable day-to-day husbandry and clinical observation skills. From managing equine nutrition and mucking stalls to observing complex equine surgeries firsthand, these opportunities reinforced my lifelong dedication to veterinary medicine.
